XLK files are backup files that were created by Microsoft Excel, a popular spreadsheet creation program. The XLK file will contain a backup copy of an .XLS file. The XLK file is useful in recovering spreadsheet data in the event that a spreadsheet file is lost or corrupted. XLK files are only used by Excel 2000 and earlier but they may still be opened in Excel 2003-2007.

I have Office 2007. Whenever I export a file from Access to Excel, an .XLK file is automatically created in the same folder. It doesn't do it for Word or anything else. Is there something I can do to stop it from creating that .XLK file?
