TFW files are 'world files' that work in conjunction with *.TIF image files. These files are mainly used by mapping software (ArcView, Google Earth etc) to add an aerial image to the correct geographic location.
The .tfw file is a simple text file that specifies the geographic coordinates of the aerial image.
