The TAX2009 file extension is used by the Intuit TurboTax program to describe a federal or state tax return for the year 2009. These files contain all the information that is needed to fill out both of these tax returns and may generally be edited using the TurboTax "Interview" mode or by manually entering the information in to the tax forms.
These files can also be stored as backup files for your tax returns.

How do I open this file: taxReturn.tax2009
It was created with TurboTax but I do not have TT on my computer. Is there a file/program I can download that will enable me to open it?

Same problem here. Computer crashed since last year and I lost TurboTax 2009 as well as the physical installation CD. I need to access this file for use with TurboTax 2010 Online.

I'm in the same boat as Tom. I had doubts at the time about downloading the program, but didn't expect this to happen.
