REDCODE RAW (R3D) is a proprietary multimedia audio/video file format owned by Red Digital Cinema Camera Company and features lossy compression for video content and lossless for the audio contents. It is native format for the RED digital cameras and recorded on Hard Disc Drives, CompactFlash cards or SSD drives.

Unlike cameras that record RGB data, RED cameras record compressed Bayer data. Recording compressed raw data gives the opportunity of setting image processing parameters in post production, such as white balance, gamma, etc.

RED cameras are high resolution (up to 4096x2304) digital cameras widely used in video, commercial shooting and film.
