    .PFX files are Personal information Exchange files. Generally these are certificate files that are issued by certain websites or companies to their employees or authorised agent for gaining access to their respective web page and gain access to the information.

    If you don't have this certificate installed you will not be able to open that web page and it comes up with error that "this site needs a certificate to be installed".

    This can be checked by : Internet options > contents > certificates > list of installed certificates.
