.IDX File Extension

Outlook Express Mailbox Index

Files with the .IDX extension are used by Microsoft's 'Outlook Express' email client.

These files are used to store an external index of the mail messages stored inside the corresponding .MBX file, which is normally found within the same folder as the .IDX file.

I found a folder under my documents that has nothing but 1288 .IDX files. I have No Idea what it is or where it came from. Has anyone ever seen .idx files before? How do I open them?
