There are two files referring to Flash Video : FLV and FL4. In the FLV the audio and video data is encoded in the same way as in the SWF files. The later FL4 format is based on the ISO base media file format. Both formats are supported in Adobe Flash Player.

Originally developed by Macromedia, they are now part of Adobe Systems.

The material within the FLV files is usually encoded with codecs following the Sorenson Spark or VP6 video compression formats. The most recent versions however support H.264 video and HE-AAC audio.
