The .FCP is a video editing project created with Apple Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express. Final Cut Pro is a non-linear video editing software developed by Macromedia Inc. and later Apple Inc.

The software allows users to log and transfer video onto hard drives, where it can be edited, processed, color graded and later output to wide variety of formats. The project supports a number of simultaneously composited video tracks; up to 99 audio tracks; multi-camera editing capabilities; as well as all the standard editing functions.

Besides all the different standalone movie export formats (Quicktime, MPEG, etc.), the .FCP can be easily exported to Apple DVD Studio Pro for DVD creation.
