EVT files may be created by the Windows Event Viewer or by the Windows Reporting tool, but are a proprietary binary format which contains information on the saved event such as the id of the event, the message of that event, the time of the event, the program which wrote the event, and the type of event that was logged. This information is often useful in analyzing program performance and debugging problems in a program.
