Question: What is an MBF File?

Have you found, downloaded or received an MBF file, but don't know which software program is required to open it?

Before attempting to open an MBF file, you'll need to determine what kind of file you are dealing with and whether it is even possible to open or view the file format.

Answer: Files which are given the .MBF extension are known as CCTV Security Video files, however other file types may also use this extension. If you are aware of any additional file formats that use the MBF extension, please let us know.

How to open a MBF file:

The best way to open an MBF video file is to simply double-click it and let the default assoisated application open the file. If you are unable to open the file this way, it may be because you do not have the correct application associated with the extension to view or edit the MBF file.

I am using a MultiView CCTV recording system, which automatically sets the default file type as *.mbf when attempting to save. The other options when saving files are *.jpg, *.bmp, & *.avi. The system is running on an old NT 4 box with 256Mb of RAM. (Very old system!)

I have found that Windows Media Player 11 requires specific Codecs to run the file, which I have been unable to locate.

More info will be provided as it becomes available. ED
