COMP files are associated with Fusion, an application developed by Blackmagic Design Inc. The program is used to create complex 3D visual effects and for digital compositing for movies. Compositing is a digital image manipulation technique that employs the usage of visual elements from different sources and combining them into a single scene.

Files with the .COMP extension created with Fusion are known as Composition files and are used to store all project data. When launched for the first time, Fusion will create a new COMP file by default. Composition files are also created for every new Fusion project and are used to store all timeline and flowchart information as well as all visual elements.

How to open COMP files:

COMP files can be opened, edited and saved with Blackmagic Design Inc's 'Fusion'. The software is available for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Microsoft Windows, and can also be run on Linux through Wine.
