UTX file extension

UTX files contain the information that is used by the Unreal 3D engine in order to apply a texture, or a fitted image, to a model generated by the game. These images are not stored in a human readable format and are generally highly compressed. When a model file calls for a specific texture, or when a map file calls for a specific texture for the geometry within, the texture is loaded, mapped using UV coordinates and then applied to the model or geometry.
