The Tracor Northern image file is a special proprietary format which is not suitable for normal image processing and must be converted to a different format entirely in order to be used by most systems. Programs which use the TN image format generally convert it to a separate and also proprietary IMG format which can be used on MAC and PC computers.
The TN format consists of 512 rows each consisting of 512 pixels and each pixel consists of 8 bits of grayscale color data.
I did not have a means to read the file directly. It was forwarded from the Verizon phone as a .jpg file.
Anyone know what to do? verizon told me to try converting the pictures extensions to a default extension.
Converting them into something useful is a hard thing on PC. It's a crazy hard thing on MAC.
There isn't any software required. Your computer needs to recognize your phone as an external storage device. There is a setting in your phone that you set it to (mass storage or data storage). Then your computer will automatically recognize it and you should be able to drag and drop your pics (or in my case "select"). After weeks of searching for ".tn" extensions, this works perfectly. It saved onto my computer as a .jpg! (I found hints for this for my LG phone online on the LG website.)
