I have just downloaded the Spybot and checked my computer. It came up with sever Adware and Spyware items, but also with some STG files. As I am a layperson could someone tell me what these files are for, and whether they are necessary for the operation of my Windows XP sytem? Thanks

An STG file (PageKeeper Storage File) is used by Microsoft Active-Sync to store a file backup set from a Laptop PC, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), Palm Pilot, Smart-Phone, etc.The STG file is completely harmless in itself as it is merely a single container file that stores multiple files of any type saved as part of a backup process.
