.PREL files are video project files that have been created with the use of Adobe Premiere Elements. Adobe Premiere Elements is a non-linear video editing program for Windows PCs. The .PREL project file contains a timeline, multiple audio and video tracks, video effects, and other settings. The .PREL file will also include references to audio and video files rather than then media itself. PREL files are not recognized by earlier versions of Premier Pro prior to CS4.
