JVC Everio Camcorder Video File
Related .MOD software |
Some digital Camcorder models (I.E JVC Everio) save their videos in the .MOD video format. These files are often accompanied with small .MOI files (See links below) which contain the videos' time-stamp information.
The .MOD format is simply a MPEG2 formatted video file, and if you simply wish to view the files on your computer, it is reportedly safe to rename the extension from .mod to .mpg or .avi
The known camcorder models that use the .MOD format are:
JVC: GZ-MG30, GZ-MG70, GZ-MG37, GZ-MG77, GZ-MG505, GZ-MG130, GZ-MG155, GZ-MG255, GZ-MG555
Panasonic: SDR-S100, SDR-S150, SDR-S10, SDR-H18, SDR-H200, SDR-H40, SDR-H60, SDR-SW20
Canon: FS100, FS10, FS11

Well i recently bought a JVC Everio Hard Disk camcorder (GZ-MG330) and I wanted to edit the videos with Windows Movie Maker. As I read the above comments i tried them. I downloaded the Prism software and installed it and converted the videos from MOD to AVI. But when i tried to import the video to Windows Movie Maker, it still wouldnt accept them. I dont know why.

About the list of the movie with the orders 1,2,3 etc...or A, B, C. I use this simple trick.
I just order the movie files with the date! Then, It's done.
Regards, Antonio

It'll run a wizard for you that can check this. (even tho compatability is not supposed to be part of Windows XP). It maybe also that you need a codec? They are kinda like a patch I believe and know that many times programs need them to work properly.
I found a forum and a lot of other answers for this by simply doing a google search for the keywords 'can't import .avi files into windows movie maker'. Do you get windows automatic updates? Also, what was the error message you got when you tried to import the .avi files?

Also did you do what I suggested and do a google search for your query. If so, you can find the codec in your search which might help you.
Jhon, I have no idea why the pro version works for some people and why it doesn't for others. When I originally installed it, it didn't recognize the .mod files. When I went to convert to .avi, it automatically updated itself, then made the conversions. I would head to the prism forum or help desk or faq's to find the answer.

I downloaded prism and the program said it downloaded but then they won't play on windows media player. What do i do? I went from .mod to .mpg help?

Robson, I was looking over the options in WMM. Go to tools and then click on options. In the general tab, you can check a box that says 'download codecs automatically'. Try this and then see if your computer downloads anything. (you must be online obviously)
I was also under options, advanced, there is are radio buttons that allow you to control the aspect ratio of either 4:3(regular) or 16:9(widescreen). Has anyone tried this that was having a problem?

Now I opened the mpg file it created and Premiere pro cs3 still had no sounds but after effects did then converted it to flv and it worked great. It so strange that Premiere pro cs3 didn't read the audio.
Also I tried the mpg is windows movie maker and it worked also with audio.

Hi, what about the video quality after converting to .mpeg using JVC MOD MPG Rebuilder? Btw, what program do you use to burn it in a DVD?

I converted it to avi, it'll play on windows media player, but when I try to put it in windows movie maker...not working, it wouldn't go into the media library
Then afterwards, the mpeg went in with sound...but no video
lol
Thanks for the help!

Could you please explain us in a more clear way (step-by-step) the procedure to create the batch file. I mean for instance where we have to put this file. How can we work with it.
Please be more clear for me and maybe for someone else.
Thank you. Bye. Antonio

Nothing wrong I guess. Link correctly the camcorder to the PC and just download photos. Remember to delete 'em from camcorder if you don't also want them anymore.
Let us know.
Antonio
