TIP: Run a Free Scan for .LICENSES File Errors.
A binary file created by LC.exe from a corresponding LICX file that is found in a Visual Studio project which uses or requires licensed project components. The binary file contains the keys needed by the components and is referenced and assembled in to the final run time using the AL.exe executable during the compilation of a Visual Studio project.
Because these keys become embedded in to the project, updating a license requires recompilation of the final assembly.
