File extension: .LCLW - Appleworks refers to two different software products. The first was created by Apple, for the Apple II computer in 1984, but is no longer supported. The second version of Appleworks refers to the Apple Macintosh/Microsoft Windows software package that was released due to Apple's acquisition of the "ClarisWorks" software suite.

The original Appleworks was an integrated software package that consisted of a word processor, spreadsheet and database. The modern Appleworks consists of a word processor, spreadsheet, database program, drawing program, painting program and a terminal program to deal with communications.

However, with the release of the latest version, the terminal program has been replaced by a presentation package.
