.JXR File Extension

JPEG XR Image

Image File
The JPEG XR format is roughly the same as the JPEG image format and was developed by Microsoft for use in their Windows Media programs. In addition to support for the same features that are present in the JPEG format, such as transparency and a high level of compression, the XR also extends functionality for both lossy and lossless compression at higher levels than the JPEG image format. Further, it supports 48-bit color. Because of this, the format is often used in HD picture editing.
