DVDMEDIA files contain backups of a DVD that have been "ripped" from the DVD using the Little App Factory RipIt application, an application used for backing up DVDs. These files are an archive that contains both the audio tracks and the video tracks of the ripped DVD in a format that is able to be played back using the Apple DVD Player.
Because DVDMEDIA files are not an image of the DVD that they are ripping, they are often far less than the size of a normal DVD.
