DBK FILE EXTENSION

Sony Ericsson Phone Backup File

Backup File
TIP: Run a Free Scan for .DBK File Errors.
The .DBK file extension belongs to files created by 'Sony Ericsson PC Suite', an application for backing up phone settings and data.

The .DBK format is compressed, much like a .zip file - resulting in smaller file sizes. The file itself is a container file, meaning it can contain many different types of data, typically:

- Contacts
- Calendar
- Tasks
- Notes
- Bookmarks
- Phone memory
- Memory card data (pictures, video, music etc)

Once the .dbk file has been created on your computer, you are then able to restore this data to your phone, once again using the 'PC Suite'.

If you you wish to access the actual data inside the file, you'll find the compression format is identical to that of a standard zip file; simply renaming the extension from .dbk to .zip is reported to work - however we advise to make a backup of the file first.

Update 2012: We are currently seeking a .DBK file for further analysis. If you have a .DBK file you are able to send us, please email the file to webmaster@dotwhat.net. All files received will be treated as confidential and used for internal analysis only.

It worked! I backed up my phone using Sony Ericsson PC suite and wanted to access the .dbk file. I copied the file first and renamed the copied file to .zip

Backed up then changed file name to .zip. It worked. Opened all my contacts individually and asked if I wanted to store each in Outlook Express Address Book.

I managed to open the .DBK file and was happy to see that it was possible, but I could only see one contact - I don't where the other contacts have gone? Is it possible to rename it back to .dbf?

I tried changing the extension to .zip and it worked but I could only see the first contact from my contact list. Is there any other option by which I can get all other contacts as well?

I am having the same problem in that I can only see 1 contact to view (via VCF file). I changed the file extension from DBK to ZIP.Did you find out an answer to this problem? Any help is much appreciated.

Keep pressing "ok" button after you open the contact vcf file. Each contact is opened sequentially (one by one for every ok pressing) and alphabetically. This solution worked perfectly for me!

If you are seeing only one contact then heres what you need to do. Go to Sony Ericsson's PC suite connect to your phone and select synchronization option and select contact and sync with outlook. You'll see all phone numbers in your outlook.

I could see the no. of contacts as 528, but when I see it in PC Suit, it shows "no name" on all. What could be the reason? How to retrieve the contact numbers?

Use "Window address book" to import the *.vcf file. You can recovery all of contacts you have.

Synchronising with outlook on PC Suite is the best option. We dont even need to open the dbk file. All the contacts can be retrieved from the outlook contacts page.
