The .DBK file extension belongs to files created by 'Sony Ericsson PC Suite', an application for backing up phone settings and data.
The .DBK format is compressed, much like a .zip file - resulting in smaller file sizes. The file itself is a container file, meaning it can contain many different types of data, typically:

- Tasks

- Bookmarks
- Phone memory
- Memory card data (pictures, video, music etc)
Once the .dbk file has been created on your computer, you are then able to restore this data to your phone, once again using the 'PC Suite'.

I am using Sony Ericsson W660 software, and performed a back up but the file format shows DBK - with what software can I read it?

Can you suggest me a way to convert .dbk file to .ipd file format as I want to transport the data from Sony Ericsson to Blackberry mobile.

It worked! I backed up my phone using Sony Ericsson PC suite and wanted to access the .dbk file. I copied the file first and renamed the copied file to .zip

Backed up then changed file name to .zip. It worked. Opened all my contacts individually and asked if I wanted to store each in Outlook Express Address Book.

I managed to open the .DBK file and was happy to see that it was possible, but I could only see one contact - I don't where the other contacts have gone? Is it possible to rename it back to .dbf?
