The .db file extension is used by many applications to store data as it is simply a acronym of the word DataBase.

As these files could be created by any application, the actual format of the file will vary.

It is sometimes possible to open the file using a text editor such as notepad++ and manually scan through the contents looking for clues. Remember not to save the file when closing as you could lose its formatting.
