The AutoText file is used by OpenOffice in order to recognize and replace characters or strings of characters automatically while the user is typing. This can be useful for things such as SpellCheck replacements, or when certain phrases have a preferred replacement but are more commonly typed.
These files contain a list of phrases and the phrase that should be replaced with it and is in a human readable format that can be shared between copies of OpenOffice.
